The Bloodhound Adventure

Our BBC 2 series for children on Bloodhound SSC (SuperSonic Car) has just been broadcast.

From the race track to the airfield, from sky diving to water skiing, these Bloodhound films for children look at the challenges behind the development of this cutting edge vehicle. How do you power a car that fast? And how do you slow down? Why doesn't it have tyres? Why does it need a fighter pilot to drive it? And how will it feel to drive?

Glasshead is the main media partner for Bloodhound SSC – the fastest car in the world, hoping to achieve an incredible 1,000mph – faster than a speeding bullet. We’re making behind the scenes documentaries as well as short films in conjunction with the BBC and the BBC 1 show ‘Bang Goes the Theory’.

Astronomy and Space

Astronomers, cosmologists and planetary scientists explain what astronomy is, how they measure the distance between stars, and what the planets in our solar system are like.

These films and the DVD resources that accompany them were produced with support from the Science and Technologies Facilities Council and the Institute of Physics.

Saving Nellie

Starring Helen Baxendale and James Fleet, Saving Nellie is a scripted drama that shows two teachers struggling to save their student Nellie’s interest in physics.

It’s up to Eric (Nellie’s stuffy and old-fashioned physics teacher, played by James Fleet) to rescue the situation, and at the same time to revolutionise his teaching methods. Joining forces with fellow teacher Helen (Helen Baxendale), the two teachers embark on a quest to invigorate physics, in a last attempt to persuade Nellie not to drop the subject.
